Reduce Blackheads

Step 1 - Cleanse the face thoroughly with a good cleanser meant for oily skin. Preferrably use a salicylic acid cleanser

Step 2 - Apply an astringent. It helps reduce oiliness. If its a bit harsh mix a bit of rose water in it.

Step 3 - Apply a good quality medicated cream or gel containing resorcinol, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. This helps is soaking the oil and helps in peeling away the blackheads

Effective Tips to get rid of blackheads

-Exfoliate the blackhead prone area 3-4 times a week using facial exfoliators and scrubs.

-Use creams containing AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Fruit acids) like glyco-creams that will clear away any dead skin cells and ';expose'; the blackhead. Use the AHA's every 3 days or so.

-Keep your hair away from your face. Greasy hair and skin go together, and hair can spread infection.

-Sunshine or ultra-violet light encourages skin peeling, and so helps to clear blocked pores. So sunbathing or use of sun-beds in moderation can be helpful.

-Avoid washing the face with soaps more than twice a day. Instead wash your face often with plain water splashes.

-Often use a mask with a clay base.

About pores

What purpose do the pores serve? Pores are the passageways for oil to be released onto the skin. Our body temperature is in part controlled by the release of sweat through the pores too. Pores always follow a hair follicle, so wherever there is hair, there will be a pore. They are barely visible on those prone to drier skin, but individuals with oily or thicker skin tend to have larger, more noticeable pores.

Why do you have enlarged pores? Genetics may certainly be to blame. A tendency to have glaborous skin (thicker, oilier skin with larger pores) is often a familial trait. Sun damage is another cause. As we age, one of the ways sun damage shows is through the enlargement of the pores.

The pores may be more visible simply due to lack of good skin grooming and poor exfoliation. Too much surface oil and remnant naturally shed skin cells clinging to the pores can create the illusion of the pores being larger than they really are. Blackheads also draw the eye to the pores, regardless of their true size. Enlarged pores are not the same as having blackheads, although the 2 can certainly be present simultaneously. Pores are a natural part of the skin; blackheads are the plugs that can occur through issues related to poor natural skin exfoliation. Contact with air causes a chemical reaction known as oxidation that in turn causes the part of the plug that is contacting the air to look black and makes them noticeable.

While no one can truly change the physical diameter of a pore, their appearance can certainly be minimized. Skin care is going to be your mainstay for minimizing the visibility of those large pores. These are the steps you need to take if you find yourself afflicted by large pores that you just haven鈥檛 been able to fix:

Remove excessive surface oils

Use oil-free skin care products

Unplug any blackheads

Smooth out the edges

Reduce sun damage

Remove The Oils

Too much oil causes the skin to look shiny, drawing attention to any imperfections including pore size. A good cleanser is the first step in ridding the skin of this unwanted oil and preventing the overgrowth of problem-causing bacteria. Cleansers should be thorough, but gentle.

If you have COMBINATION SKIN, I recommend cleansers that won鈥檛 dry out the normal areas.

For truly OILY SKIN, you will need more oil-busting power.

excessive shine draws attention to the pores. You are walking a fine line when reducing oiliness. Oils protect and lubricate our skin and create a more youthful glow. Too little oil may lead to dehydration and irritation of the skin. How can i reduce my blackheads n contract my pores?
Get a facial first to remove existing blackheads and so that your face is cleaned already. They will steam your face, extract the blackheads, moisturize and close your pores. You can get this service at your dermatologist (better there if you have acne or pimples) or at any facial salon. After that, whenever you wash your face, wash with warm water to open pores. You can also steam your face at home to open the pores and get the dirt out before you wash then rinse off with cold water. You can also run ice cubes over your face to close your pores.
well I suffer from such things and here is what I do:

1- wash you face frequently with water (keep your face moist a little)

2- I use clean and clear lotion for blackheads whenever they are much and it works
Use an exfoliating wash weekly and follow up with toner/astringent (witch hazel is just fine) daily.
Go to Wal-Mart or Walgreens and buy some Purpose soap and an exfoliating sponge. Use this to wash your face twice a day. If your skin is getting too dry, use an oil free lotion to keep it moisturized.
Use a Biore Ultra Deep Cleansing pore strip once a week. You can actually see the blackheads it pulls out. Then use Neutrogena Pore Refining Cream daily. You will notice an immediate improvement and the cream will keep them away. It was voted best product by readers of Cosmo.
In all honesty, your pores will never really shrink. A pore minimizer actually causes slight swelling around the pores to make them look smaller. Use the wrong kind or a cream that is too strong and you'll look ';puffy';.

As far as Blackheads, pore strips are good, and multiple daily face washings.

A facial skin buffer is a good idea, it'll keep the pore edges smooth and in the longrun it will reduce wrinkling, which occurs from pore crease to pore crease.
Pore mimimizer takes forever to work, and then you only see slight changes in your pores.Use a toner after you wash your face it will get the dirt out of your pores and reduce your risk of blackeads.

Good Luck

* Clean and Clear Toner, Neutrogena produts are wonderful
Go in for regular facials.Wash face with warm water to open pores ,use clean and clear lotion for blackheads whenever they are much and it works
